Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently looking for a Graduate Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE This is a Home Office position based in Dubai.
Reporting to the Lead Discipline Engineer, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned engineering tasks
To carry out technical safety discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil & gas production facilities
To prepare process safety deliverables for a project in the oil and gas industry, and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
To promote safe behavior at all times
To carry out tasks as directed by the Lead / Senior Discipline Engineers
To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre[1]commissioning, and start-up
To assist in the coordination of all activities related to technical safety engineering design
Skills / Qualifications
MSc / BE/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree qualification from a recognized university
Familiar with the fundamentals of process safety engineering design and analysis
Clear communicator with good interpersonal skills
Highly motivated and self-reliant
Problem solver
Open analytic thinker and innovator
Good communicator with willingness to share knowledge and support others

Senior Structural Engineer
Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to work as part of their Production Support Team and will be supporting the Lead Structural Engineer to perform assigned offshore structural engineering analysis and design of topsides and associated substructures to implement DPE’s engineering projects.
Scope of Work:
- To fulfil the role of Senior Structural Engineer in the Projects team for conceptual, front end and detailed engineering design.
- Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of necessary safety practices, design criteria, and technical standards to ensure implementation of best practice during discharge of work-scopes.
- Perform all work in a diligent and safe manner in compliance with the management system associated working procedures, relevant DPE, national or international standards as appropriate.
- Participate in constructability surveys or reviews.
- Provide supervision, direction and support to structural designers.
- Perform and safely deliver Structural engineering analysis and designs in accordance with planning schedules and cost estimates.
Skills / Qualifications
Experience Profile:
- Engineer with 5-10 years’ structural engineering experience in an offshore oil and gas environment.
- Must have working knowledge and experience of oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices.
Educational Qualifications:
- Must be degree qualified from a recognised university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Competencies/Skills/Others:
- Should be pragmatic, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
- Able to present and write technical reports in fluent English.
- Expected to take ownership of issues and follow them through to completion.
- Willingness to interact directly with people.
- Good presentation skills.
- Ability to work in an organised and structured fashion, and within time constraints.
Note that the Engineer will initially work remotely, but may be expected to locate to DPE Main office later depending on internal COVID guidance. Engineer will also be required to travel offshore.

Overview / Responsibilities:Wood is currently looking for Senior Cost Engineer to strengthen our team in Dubai. This is a home office position
- Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Wood Quality Assurance systems and processes.
- Act as Cost Focal Point for specific project scopes as required.
- Develop and maintain Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for specific scopes.
- Develop project budget in accordance with project estimate and CTR Catalogue.
- Manage the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals.
- Develop and maintain project cost plans using appropriate software applications.
- Monitor and control cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of project lifecycle.
- Liaise with project management, project planning and others as required to ensure accuracy in project cost phasing and forecasting.
- Liaise with procurement, finance and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costs. Ensure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with approved project WBS.
- Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, to maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the project budget, schedule and cost forecast.
- Provide copies of project cost performance reports in accordance with project reporting requirements.
- Produce and issue updates to project cost forecasts.
- Monitor and report on cost impact of project manpower forecasts.
- Coordinate development and issue of project change orders/variations in accordance with engineering and construction change notifications.
- Assess and communicate cost and schedule impact of change notifications.
- Monitor cost impact of achievement/non-achievement of major project milestones.
- Monitor overall project cost performance and contingency drawdown.
- Attend project/client meetings and present project cost performance status as required.
- Assist manage the project cost close-out process.
- Delegate and manage the work of subordinate project controls staff as required.
- Liaise with the Planning discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests are properly assessed and included in the schedules.
- Participate in cost and estimate risk analysis sessions as required.
- Assist with audits to ensure compliance with relevant Wood Planning procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to subordinate Project Controls staff as required.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree in relevant technical or business discipline or can be substituted by suitable industry experience.
- Knowledge and application of Cost Engineering principles.
- Minimum 5 years experience in cost or estimating positions.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction projects in the oil and gas industry, preferably in both onshore and offshore environment.
- Good knowledge of computerised Cost Management and reporting systems preferred together with ability to consolidate cost data from a number of sources for overall presentation.
- In-depth understanding of project management principles and techniques.
- Good supervisory skills.
- Good understanding of Cost Control, Estimating, Change Control and Risk Analysis.
