What’s the role?
The Senior Mechanical Technician is part of the Central Maintenance Team responsible for conducting Preventive and Corrective maintenance activities in line with AMS ME Process for the Pearl GTL Complex.
The two important aspects are executing the hands-on maintenance job, delivering on time in a safe manner with high quality, and driving Continuous Improvement
The incumbent will be accountable for the maintenance of critical rotating equipment based on approved equipment care maintenance strategies, procedures, and work instructions, Immediate response to break-in work, and support TA to ensure the availability and integrity of the rotating equipment and systems thus meeting the requirements of the company.

The Senior Mechanical Technician role is key to being a part of the Pearl GTL Asset organization in Central Maintenance ensuring deliveries according to the plan.
Compliance with the Company’s Code of conduct, HSSE policies, Procedures, and Permit to work are mandatory requirements.
What we need from You
- The candidate should have a technical education in an engineering discipline to the level of at least Diploma or equivalent with 10-15 years of proven experience in Oil / Gas / Petrochemical industry, in the field of maintenance of large rotating equipment that includes all types of Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Engines, and Generators.
- Skilled in Troubleshooting large Rotating Equipment – Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Engines, Gearboxes, and Generators.
- Skilled in Overhauling all types of large Rotating Equipment – Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Engines, Gearboxes, and Generators.
- Skilled in specifying controls for engineering hazards in accordance with procedures and permit-to-work systems.
- Skilled in Diagnosing and Resolving non-compliance and significant, complex problems.
- Skilled in Performing Cold/Hot alignment of all types of major rotating equipment at the site.
- Skilled in Troubleshooting and maintaining Dry Gas Seals and white metal bearings.
- Skilled in Inspections of Gas Turbines (CI/HGPI/Major) and Inspections of Steam Turbines (Minor/Major).
- Skilled in Identifying spare parts requirements/updating re-order quantity for rotating equipment.
- Skilled in Commissioning and Testing of rotating equipment.
- Skilled in Demonstrating knowledge and skill in safety-critical activities.
- Skilled in the Use of vibration analyzer and interpretation of records.
- Skilled in Modify Plant systems in line with the approved change requests.
- Skilled in referring OEM Manuals – Equipment Manufacturer’s Drawings and Procedures.
- Skilled in Interpreting technical drawings, Standards, and Procedures for maintenance.
- Skilled in the Use of correct tools for precision work and handling of precision measuring instruments.

Corrosion Researcher

Qatar Shell Research and Technology Center (QSRTC) is seeking a Corrosion Researcher, to champion local research and development initiatives, network these with the existing development activities in the Group and leverage local innovation ecosystem. The incumbent will manage QSRTC’s Corrosion Program which requires coordination with the teams in our operated asset Pearl GTL, our global R&D team.
What’s the role?
Roles and Responsibilities:
- HSSE leader in the area
- Manage assigned R&D projects and Shell-funded research contracts at partner organizations: budget, schedule, stakeholders, deliverables, financial and progress reports.
- Provide technical advice/support to the QSGTL site
- Develop strong relationships with QSGTL teams to understand the site’s reliability and operational challenges, which may lead to new research projects.
- Updates projects funnel and aligns proposals and project progress with Research Program Lead.
- Propose and obtain funding for new projects to address Plant concerns or general issues recognized by the SMEs and discipline community.
- Participate in externally funded collaborations with various research partners.
- Coordinates research experiment support for area of expertise with Lab manager.
- Execute exploratory experiments related to area of expertise, in a safe and effective manner as per appropriate safety procedures.
- Ensure high reliability of experimental data and produce a report with conclusions and recommendations in collaboration of other colleagues.
- Manage and maintain data repositories for area of expertise / assign projects.
- Timely delivery of validated data/reports.
- Manage IP and technical output for assigned projects.
- Support outreach program and represents QSRTC in conferences and events related to area of expertise.
- Maintains alignment with Shells R&D Platforms, Pearl GTL Mechanical Integrity Team and QSRTC Laboratory and R&D program.
- Coordinates failure analysis program with Pearl GTL team.
- Champions local corrosion research on cases advantaged by: proximity to asset, proximity to the market, unique capabilities, conducive environment and local regulations.

What we need from you
- PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or associated fields with sound knowledge and experience in Corrosion Research.
- Experience with failure analysis investigations.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of IP approaches and commercial implications.
- Knowledge and experience of GTL process is desired
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
- Excellent communication skills, especially in the context of cross-culture environment and to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

The Civil &Structural Design Engineer will perform multi-projects portfolio within a Minor Project team environment to deliver safe, reliable, on schedule and cost-effective design.
• Assigned deliverables including specific complex deliverables in oil and gas facility such as pipe racks, pipe supports and sleepers, equipment structures, modules, foundations, paving, buildings, control room, substation, compressor/dynamic foundations, equipment foundations, drainage, roads and culverts.
• Capable to perform design modification or adequacy check of existing facilities as part of Management of Change (MOC) scope with the main key challenges such as non-availability of existing design report or significant discrepancy between as-built drawing and actual. Able to demonstrate hand design calculation/spreadsheet and mostly will use STAAD.Pro program to complete the structural design.
• Handling several projects and working in multi-engineering disciplines as single discipline focal point. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Accountability for civil & structural detail engineering deliverables and conceptual studies, such as design layouts, design basis, design calculations, specification and construction documents.
• Able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
• Ensures effective communications with civil discipline Technical Authority (TA), other engineering disciplines TAs and designers/drafters.
• Responsible for schedule and cost considerations/estimation in design decisions, while maintaining primary responsibility to safe and quality in designs
• Responsible for field verification during design and construction
• Responsible to reply for Technical Query (TQ) from Construction Contractor
• Support Lead Design Engineer and Project Engineer to keep projects on track and get Top Quartile (TQ) for the portfolio
• Ensure design meets requirements of Shell’s HSSE Framework. Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in civil and structural engineering from a recognized University. Candidates with master’s degree in civil and structural engineering will be given preference.
• Minimum 12 years of work experience post qualification in an Engineering Consulting Organization / EPC Contractor or Operating Company Design Department in oil and gas industry.
• Must have vast exposure to detail design of buildings, foundation, steel and concrete for green and brownfield projects in petrochemical and oil & gas facilities. Must be expert in STAAD.Pro software. Knowledge and skill in offshore design with SACS and others software are advantage.
• Capable to design sewer & drainage drawing and calculation as per project specifications.
• Knowledge of painting, insulation and refractory are advantage.
• Proven leadership skills and strong engineering skill capability in order to meet deadlines and specific targets. Able to work as single civil discipline focal point handling multi-projects.
• Strong, and demonstrated, personal commitment to HSSE Leadership and experience in managing HSSE throughout all project phases. Familiar with safety requirements such as Stop Card, Care Observation, Life Saving Rule or equivalent.
• Ability to work and manage working condition in a multi-cultural environment.
• Experience in the Middle East, knowledge of GTL and LNG are an advantage, as is front-end and commissioning experience as well as execution.
• Familiar with DEP standards is a must, with knowledge and hand on experience using international codes such as British Standard, Eurocode, API, ASTM, ACI, AISC and ASCE and others.
