Role Purpose
Collection Coordinator supports the General Collection team in physically processing collection objects; organizing assigned materials; physically numbering collection objects; completing catalog records in the EMu database; rehousing materials and stabilizing them for long term storage; photographing collection objects; updating and inventorying storage locations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Oversee the correct use and compilation of Entry, Exit, Transfer of Title, and Loan forms.
• Keep an accurate and up to date computerised record of objects, their location and movement, using QM Collection Management System (CMS).
• Undertake backlog documentation tasks and research into the collection, its digitization and photography.
• Coordinate and support volunteers and interns as they assist with documentation and cataloguing tasks, verify data entry and support volunteer teams concerned with collection management and recording, digitisation, and exhibition development.
• Assist with maximising access to the collection for internal audiences and answer general enquiries.
(Including photographic enquiries). Maintain high standards of interdepartmental communication.
• Assist the Curatorial and Research Team with documentation for exhibitions and displays and potentially the displays themselves.
• Support the objectives of the General Collection Digital Strategy.
• Create digital resources including images which can be added to the CMS as well as uploaded to the
website.
Necessary knowledge to be able to do the job
- Knowledge of the detailed workflow in preventative care, in particular packing and movement of collection.
- Working knowledge of KeEMu.
- Working knowledge of online collection management systems.
- Knowledge in Art History, Museum Practices.
- Familiar with contracts.
- Familiar with ICOM code of ethics.
- Computer skills Microsoft Office 2010-2013.
- Basic computer skills to use Collection Management System (artwork database).
- English essential, Arabic is a plus.
- Communication skills.

Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Art History, Museum studies or related field.
- A minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience.

- The Head of Board Operations provides operational support to the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums to provide the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks required by and for the Board of Trustees are as per the legal remit of QM and within the legal framework of the State of Qatar.
- Provides and coordinates documents and papers required for the Board of Trustees and Committee Meetings.
- Supports the planning of all Board of Trustee meetings – from time, date, location, invitations, and logistics – and generate reports and communication with Trustees regarding all Board and Committee work.
- Issues and monitors any assigned material to the Trustees.
- Works with the Director of BMO and Committee Chairs to manage and schedule Board meetings, Committee meetings and/or others, including preparing and giving notice of such meetings.
- Maintain information transfer from Directors and Deputy CEO meetings in areas of relevance to the Board of Trustees and BMO.
- Provide sound legal advice, clarity and direction.
- Ensure statutory compliance of Board of Trustee members to the remit of QM and legal framework of the State of Qatar.
- Prepare and draft papers required for Board of Trustee meetings, committees, resolutions and governance, including any papers required for Trustees.
- Advise Head of Board Operations and Director of BMO on relevant legal standards of importance to the Board of Trustees or the activities of the Board.
- Initiate research and evaluation of risk factors that impact the Board, its decisions or its operations.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

- Understanding of Qatari law, legal frameworks, and procedures.

Head Of Content Development
- In line with the Museum’s mission, lead the content research and interpretation planning of the Museum’s exhibition galleries and other interpreted spaces and media, such as nature trails, art installations, website and publications, from planning through design and delivery.
- Prepare, or oversee the preparation of, gallery development and project planning documents, briefs and reports.
- Manage content research and interpretation planning staff and consultants, overseeing the process and steering their work through all stages of planning, development and design.
- Actively contribute to the exhibition development process, including audience evaluation, text writing and editorial processes and liaising with stakeholders, external content experts, interpretation consultants and advisors
- Oversee and participate in briefing and provision of information to the gallery and exhibit designers with regards to content research and interpretive planning
- Lead on the process of object selection, which will involve making arrangements for, and sometimes undertaking, research trips as necessary
- Collaborate with QCM senior staff on all aspects of exhibition planning and design briefing and assessment, including content research, collections, conservation, audience evaluation, learning, project management, wayfinding, etc.
- Collaborate with the Dadu 2D team to ensure consistent, effective and creative usage of the Museum’s brand and visual identity
- Collaborate with the Dadu Exhibition Technologies and Prototyping colleagues to identify and deliver and evaluate prototypes
- Oversee and participate in a wide range of research tasks for the Galleries development as directed. This will include research on subject areas, collections or objects relevant to the exhibition
- Oversee and participate in all areas related to interpretation, including content development, learning outcomes, exhibit evaluation, label and script writing, and design
- Conduct research, such as collecting images and visuals using all available media, etc. and making site visits to museums, children’s environments, family leisure destinations, and other designed environments, locally and internationally, as required
- Manages and assists in selected special projects and performs other related duties, as assigned
- Stay current and advice on current trends, news and innovations in the interpretation in the museum field for the museum’s target audience of families and children
- Work with QCM staff to prepare project documents, briefs and presentations
- Full participation in QM managerial processes, including all professional development training; budget writing, tracking and planning; staff mentoring, review and appraisal process; applicant CV review and interviews; planning of staff training and conference attendance; and other processes as designated.
- Collaborate on strategic planning and plans leading up to and beyond the opening of the new Museum
- Manage and mentor staff in the areas of brand management, marketing and communications.
- Provide yearly staff evaluations, recommend and organize training and placements for direct reports, ensure their participation in QM staff professional development, and attend and contribute to relevant conferences and symposia
- Participate in the procurement and management of contracted companies, consultants and sub-contractors as directed. Draft or contribute to drafting specifications for appointed consultants for brand and marketing related work
- Participate in the preparation of post-opening annual departmental budgets
- Participate in QM budget process
- Participate in all professional training and education set by Dadu senior management; actively seek out additional training, conferences, etc., locally and internationally, that are directly relevant to work; actively review all other training opportunities offered
- Bachelors’ degree qualification or higher in Museum Studies or Child Development or Education related fields
- At least six years experience in interpretation aimed at families and/or children in a museum or very similar organization.
- Experience in working with children and families in an informal learning environment.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity; and understanding of Arab and Islamic cultures and practices.
- Experience in managing multi-channel marketing projects
- Experience of digital marketing including digital media
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams as well as independently
- Extensive experience of working with content and creative teams.
