The Jacobs Highways team provides comprehensive consultancy and engineering services to the highways sector, covering the full spectrum of highway infrastructure requirements, from business case and project development, preliminary appraisal, and feasibility studies through to detailed design, implementation, operational management advice and operations and maintenance.
Due to our continued growth in the region, Jacobs are hiring a Highways Design Manager for the Highways and Bridges team in Qatar. You would be involved in a wide variety of engineering tasks covering a portfolio of major roads, highways and bridges projects.
As our Highways Design Manager your role will be both client facing and managing the delivery of our design teams. You will therefore be Interacting with our clients and stakeholders to manage the completion of the design throughout the project lifecycle from initiation to close out. In addition, you will also be expected to:-
Arrange, attend, and chair design team meetings whenever reasonably necessary and monitor the progress of action.
Ensure that the design teams produce the required deliverables required under their appointments, including but not limited to drawings, specifications, reports, schedules, Bills of Quantities, models, rendering.
Be able to review the design programs to ensure that all disciplines are on track, mitigate any issues and delays arise.
Ensure the baseline schedule gets updated every time a change event occurs and support the project manager and business with the change management.
Identify any remaining design issues that need to be produced and /or resolved to meet the requirements of the client’s procurement program/schedule and coordinate with the other consultants engaged (or other internal teams engaged) to ensure that releases of design deliverables coordinate with the program/schedule for procurement of the corresponding works packages.
Support the bids and proposals, break down the scope, listing the deliverables and pricing the levels of efforts.
Be abreast of the market trends and support the management of the highway and bridges team
Evaluate project team and recommend areas of attention gaps to be filled
Use value engineering techniques during the design development as well as implementation of safety in design
Here’s What You’ll Need:
As a successful candidate you will have a bachelor’s or master’s Degree (or equivalent Degree), with technical design management experience gained in the transportation sector and will have proven experience within a consultative environment covering Roads and Highways.
You will have knowledge and understanding of appropriate standards and accepted practices from a consultancy or equivalent road agency and will have full understanding of Ashghal and Ministry of Transport standards, procedures, and specifications as well as knowledge of other various authorities and stakeholders in Qatar.
You will have previous experience managing infrastructure design teams and projects and will come with a strong understanding of all primary infrastructure disciplines such as roads, power, wet utilities and dry utilities and design principles.
You will be familiar with working with Civil 3D and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
You will have a valid registration with MME Engineering & Consulting Offices Accrediting Committee (UPDA)
