The Senior IT Security Specialist at the Doha Institute (DI) is responsible for assessing information risk and facilitating the remediation of identified vulnerabilities for IT security and IT risk across the DI. The role should regularly report on findings and recommendations for corrective action, perform vulnerability assessments as assigned by utilizing IT security tools and methodologies, facilitate and monitor performance of risk remediation tasks, implement changes related to risk mitigation, and report on findings.
Key responsibilities:
– Management of IT security and IT risk (e.g., data systems, network and/or web) across the DI.
– Deploy security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls, IPS, SIEM solution.
– Monitor security tools to detect security events & incidents.
– Operate vulnerability scanning and compliance tools to identify system weaknesses and liaise with other IT sections to coordinate remedial actions.
– Assess the impact of emerging vulnerabilities and manage teams to coordinate appropriate remedial actions.
– Study and deploy security controls for detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
– Assess technical security risks in terms of impact to systems and service confidentiality, integrity and availability, and report and escalate results of risk assessments.
– Report any real or potential security breaches / vulnerabilities to the IT management and provide technical support and leadership to technical teams during incident response
– Conduct information security assessment such as penetration testing, Vulnerability assessment, risk assessment and uncover any existence vulnerabilities/weakness/risks
– Research the latest information technology (IT) security trends
– Help plan and carry out an organization’s way of handling security
– Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff
– The IT Security/Risk Specialist assists in all IT audits, IT risk assessments and regulatory compliance.
Hands on Skills:
– 8-10 years IT security or information security experience with a proven ability to engage with Senior Management and regulators.
– Very good experience conducting IT compliance assessments and administering IT security controls in an organization.
– Deep understanding of Networking and Security solutions such as firewalls, VPNs, Web Proxy, NGFW etc. (projects and operations).
– Experience on Pen testing, offensive tactics and techniques, and vulnerability management solutions.
– Experience on leading SIEM solutions, especially on monitoring, analyzing, and reporting.
– Experience with endpoint security solutions, application whitelisting, Sandboxing etc.…
– Experience on F5 LTM and ASM is a plus.
Educational Qualification:
– Bachelor’s Degree, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field required.
Certifications:
– Must have a professional certification in OSCP, or CISSP
– CCIE Security (LAB certified).

– Support the administrative management of research projects funded internally and externally pre and post-awar
– Ensure compliance with relevant policies regarding research objectivity, avoidance of conflicts of interest, and human subject research ethics.
– Support the tracking, organization and analysis of DI research outputs – contribute to dissemination activities internally and externally
Primary Responsibilities
– Assist pre-award activities to include the organization and administrative set up of faculty research proposals — this includes budget composition, and ensuring adherence to sponsor requirements
– Inform faculty of research funding opportunities, and providing assistance/support as appropriate during the submission process
– Contribute to the administrative management of internally and externally funded research projects to include budget, cash flow and schedule
– Contribute as appropriate to the work of the DI Institutional Review Board (IRB)
– Assist the DI-IRB Coordinator with organizing applications, and conducting human subject research ethics training to researchers as appropriate.
– Contribute to the management and development of the DI research outputs database, and conduct regular analysis of impact in accordance with international standards
– Assist with organizing department events, writing department publications and content on the DI website
– Other tasks as directed by the Director of the Department
Educational Requirements
– Master’s degree in a relevant field
– Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate (desirable)
– Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certificate (desirable)
Knowledge and Experience:
– A minimum of 4 years experience in research and grants administration or similar field
– Excellent understanding of academic research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative), and background of working with academics especially in the Social Sciences and Humanities
– Practical experience and knowledge of human subject research ethics or experience working in an IRB Office
– Excellent understanding of Academic journal impact factor, rankings and associated metrics
Skills:
– Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English
– Excellent skills with MS Office products especially MS Excel
